WORKSHOP ON NEXT 2 PLASTIC – Adopt new Technology for biodegradable plastics


After ban of polythene and single used plastics, more than 500 plastic items manufacturing units were affected severely and moved towards closure. To overcome these affected units from such crisis and to provide them an alternative arrangement by adopting new technology to produce bio-degradable and eco-friendly items, OASME jointly with M/s. Hoopoo Overseas Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with NSIC Ltd., Bhubaneswar has organized and Workshop on “NEXT 2 PLASTIC” on 2nd November,2018 in Conference hall of Directorate of Export Promotion & Marketing, Odisha, Bhubaneswar.

Mr. Vinod Manchanda, Indian Business Associate of Biotrack International Pvt. Ltd. of South Korea was appraised the entrepreneurs through power point presentation and live demonstration how an unit can produce all types of single use items like carry bags, pet bottles, plates, spoons and glasses out of compostable granules (made out of corn starch instead of plastic) by utilizing South Korean Technology in their existing machinery, tools and equipment without further loss. Amongst other Guests, Mrs. Monalisha Mohapatra, Managing Director, M/s. Hoopoo International Pvt. Ltd. assured to supply the raw materials for the Bio-degradable plastics and market the finished products in Odisha and other parts of the Country.

In his address, the Hon’ble Guest, Mr. Sanjay Rautela, Zonal General Manager, NSIC Ltd, Branch Office, Bhubaneswar intimated the entrepreneurs about the different schemes and technologies available with the Central Government by way of which, such units can survive and re-start. He advised the entrepreneurs to take advantages out of these and NSIC is always ready to help the MSMEs as & when required.

Er. Satwik Swain, Secretary General, OASME during his opening remarks, said that, now it is high time that, the manufacturers should upgrade their set up with new technology to keep pace with the changing world. Mr. Gauri Sankar Dash, Chairman, OASME said, the association will help and  facilitated the technology to the exsting plastic industries and provide a sustainable module through which the units can grow with the South Korea Technology. The Workshop was inaugurated by Sri S. K. Jena, Director, EP&M, Odisha as Chief Guest. During his inaugural address Mr. S. K. Jena advised the affected entrepreneurs to keep patience and adopt the modern technology for alternative and bio-degradable plastic. He appreciated OASME for its excellent works towards development of the MSMEs of the State. Near about 120 entrepreneurs were attended the Workshop from different parts of the State.
